Hollywood trailblazer Jada Pinkett Smith has consistently redefined herself and broken boundaries over a career spanning nearly three decades. Her natural poise, unshakable drive and confidence have paved the way for her longtime success as an accomplished actress, producer, director, activist, and humanitarian.
Raised in Baltimore by her mother and grandmother, she began studying the performing arts at an early age. Jada’s first job on True Color’s led to her breakout role in A Different World. Some of her feature films include Menace II Society, The Nutty Professor, Set It Off, Scream 2, Ali, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, Magic Mike XXL and most recently, Girls Trip. She has also starred on hit TV shows, Gotham and HawthoRNe. Her producer credits include The Secret Life of Bees, the Tony Award winning Broadway musical, Fela! and the film remake of the 1982 musical Annie, the remake of The Karate Kid, and the 2014 documentary Free Angela and All Political Prisoners and Hala, which will premiere at the 2019 Sundance film festival. She is currently a co-producer of the critically acclaimed Broadway production of American Son, starring Kerry Washington.
Jada and her husband Will Smith also continue to give back to their community and dedicate their efforts to the Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on the arts, education, sustainability, and social empowerment. Through the Foundation, they launched Careers in Entertainment, an initiative to help underrepresented voices enter into the entertainment industry and Jada specifically focusing on the female voice and gender equality.
Jada, a longtime advocate for human trafficking dedicates her time to humanitarian efforts and continues to be a resounding voice fighting against modern-day slavery.
