Yvonne Orji, the Nigerian-born, U.S.-raised actor, comedian and author, is faith-focused and fearless. The child of immigrants, she was destined to become a doctor, until destiny intervened. After a fateful encounter with God, the devout Christian exchanged her dreams of a stethoscope for her dreams with a microphone as a stand-up comedian.
Yvonne is perhaps best known for her knockout performance as Issa Rae’s best friend, Molly, in the hit HBO comedy series Insecure, returning for season 4 on April 12th. The show follows the friendship of two modern-day black women and all of their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations. Yvonne’s comedy has also landed her on national main stages including Madison Square Garden and Barclays Center, where she was an opening act for comedy legend Chris Rock. Her podcast, Jesus and Jollof (named after the two things she and co-host Luvvie Ajayi cannot live without), boasts more than two million downloads and has a global (and growing!) fanbase of young adults. Yvonne is currently working on her highly-anticipated debut book, Bamboozled by Jesus: How God Tricked Me Into the Life of My Dreams, due out soon. Outside of her creative work, she is dedicated to charitable efforts and has worked with Population Services International and (RED) on various campaigns.
